Securing Ireland’s gas supplies

Ireland already has two gas interconnectors to the UK. These pipelines are in close proximity at some points and are therefore linked to a degree in terms of risk. A third gas interconnector connecting two different parts of the UK and Ireland’s gas grids would reduce this risk. The current rules are in place to facilitate the development of such a pipeline if needed.
