Decarbonising European gas networks: Enagas Spain

Enagas has a forecast for 2030 Spanish gas demand of 20 bcm, nearly 40% below 2023, but this does not include transported hydrogen with potentially an additional 30bcm. Enagas has been appointed interim Hydrogen Network Operator in Spain and management believes renewable hydrogen is key to future growth. With 3 underground gas storage facilities, Enagas is currently working on the conversion of these infrastructures into hydrogen storage and construction of two new facilities Source: Carbon Tracker
