Role Purpose
Wood Mackenzie is seeking to strengthen its established European gas & power research offerings through the appointment of a Market Analyst with specialist knowledge of gas demand and price forecasting in European energy markets. This is a key role with a visible profile across our organisation and with our client base.
This role will be responsible for developing the quality and breadth of analytical inputs to our research, ensuring that European gas & power research continues to satisfy the requirements of its growing client base. The successful candidate will have detailed knowledge of European energy markets, with particular experience of demand-side fundamentals and price forecasting. The Market Analyst will be accountable for leading the development of market-related content and will work closely with other in-house experts to ensure that the views so portrayed are accurate, consistent and insightful.
Main Responsibilities
Application of analytical skills and experience to produce quantitative and qualitative content for the European Gas and Power Service, specifically in areas relating to energy demand (short and long term) and related market price discussion
Lead the development of market insight papers and reports, ensuring that such analysis is presented in a timely, relevant and thought provoking manner
Liaise with subject matter experts from across the business to develop and promote consistent ?house? views on key market topics, ensuring internal alignment on major issues and emerging trends
Ensure that analysis produced is delivered to its clients in a timely manner with due focus upon content, quality and insight
Provide support to the activities of Wood Mackenzie?s sales and marketing team, particularly in client contact situations requiring a depth of analytical knowledge and strategic market awareness
Develop and sustain a network of contacts in the industry and related media, and, as appropriate, talk at relevant industry conferences/seminars to enhance the profile of the European Gas and Power Service and wider Wood Mackenzie suite of offerings
Work closely with the Manager of European Gas & Power Research to ensure that the product fully satisfies the requirements of clients (existing and target groups), providing input to the ongoing design and development of the service
Strategic and analytical input to consulting mandates
Knowledge and Experience
Extensive knowledge of European gas markets, with particular focus on demand-side issues and fundamental price forecasting and analysis - detailed knowledge of the quantitative methods used for demand analysis, particularly econometric techniques
Ability to present analytical outputs and supporting assumptions to clients, with the additional capability of being able to clearly communicate more conceptual issues/topics
Strategic awareness, to allow client?s requirements and emerging/anticipated industry trends to be reflected in the Service
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to development effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
A minimum of four years of appropriate experience in the energy industry
